Plenum Repairs R Us.....

A customer with a turbo Hayabusa was having some issues with the plenum on his bike. The inlets had been distorted and were sucking in air, causing the power to drop a bit.

First step was to cut out the old intakes...

Looking closely, you can easily see where the circles aren't really circles anymore.

We cut out the inlets and the base they were welded to. Fabbed up some new inlets, cut holes in some 1/8" aluminum and welded them in. Then, we welded the assembly back together and powered it a nice matte black....

Looks a bit better than when it came in.

Update; Thew dirtbag that brought this in reneged on his payment and stuck us for the bill. Nice.

A couple of pics of the completed CB-750 powdercoat. Big T will now assemble the motor to finish the restoration...

It'll look nice once it's bolted back together...

Little more progress on the CB-750 engine coating project.

The engine cases prior to blasting, looking a bit cruddy...

Back from the blaster....

Masked for powder...

and coated...

The coating came out looking great with one tiny exception; it's the wrong color. We were hoping for a darker final color but the gray came out looking almost white. Not a huge problem as we only did the lower case and not the rest of the engine. So we'll blast it off again and apply a dark, more silver color for a test.

Life goes on.....

Almost finished with the tail light assembly for Tom's bike. Went with the vintage Ford lens and some aluminum plate for the holder. Plate will be recessed so that the plate sits flush with the top of the aluminum...

Went with an LED light bar for the plate light, we'll black it out to get rid of the chrome. The Ford lens has an LED 1157 bulb in for longer life and slightly brighter than an incandescent bulb....

It'd look good polished, but Tom wants it all blacked out. So we'll powdercoat it flat black next.

Finished masking and powdercoating the CB-750 head and cylinders that were dropped off last week. Came out looking good considering that they're 40 year old castings....

Shay Dog's Yamaha is getting close to being done with it's conversion from blue to black....

Big Tom has finished the spray and is about to start the wet sanding next. Should look great when he's done.
